About this blog

This blog isn't about me (L. Opine)--it's about the real estate market in Alameda, CA, and its gradual self-destruction. That said, I've heard there's a fair amount of speculation about "the jerk with the blog" (usually assumed to be male) in Alameda real estate agent circles, so I thought I'd set the record straight.

I'm a female former real estate professional in my 40s. I am no longer active in the real estate business. I semi-retired several years ago after taking advantage of the market's terminal silliness and selling my prior residence for a large profit. I now happily pay my landlord's mortgage rent in a lovely building in Alameda, which affords me all of the conveniences and almost none of the annoyances it would were I to own, maintain and pay taxes on it. I will likely buy another house after the market has finished imploding, in 2010 or later.

My partner has an excellent career of her own in biotech and no ties whatsoever to the real estate business. The former most likely has something to do with the latter.

No children, one cat, two birds.

If you're a real estate agent in Alameda, we might know each other. Then again, we might not.

L. Opine might very well be my real name.
